A reflection group for listening and responding to the work of long-time climate activist and spiritual teacher Joanna Macy. There will be group listening sessions, and opportunity for individual and group sharing of our grief and hope in the face of a rapidly changing climate. Meeting on 10 Wednesday evenings. Each session includes a reflective or meditative practice.
From the Facilitator Evan Miller
I’m looking at my newborn grandson, and I ask myself: what kind of world am I leaving him? It brings me to tears. I’ve done the best I can, but I don’t know how to face this climate crisis.
Climate change is a spiritual crisis. Technology isn’t going to solve this. I’m inviting you to join me in exploring together what it takes to live with our hearts and integrity intact in this time of global crisis.
The podcast is framed in a kitchen table conversation between 95 year old Joanna Macy, a highly regarded Buddhist teacher and activist, and her student (herself a longtime activist), Jessica Serrantte. Together, we’ll discover abiding wisdom that can help us stay joyful and energized as we work toward a more just and life-sustaining world. You can hear a 2 ½ minute teaser for the series here.
The format offers both conversation (thought-provoking input) and contemplative practices. This program does not teach about climate change, but helps us lean into our personal human response to it. Please join me.
Who: Open to any adult. Limited to 11 participants In order to honor the time of your fellow participants, we hope you’ll make every effort to attend all ten sessions. We also realize that ten weeks is a big commitment, and hope that you would be fully available for at least eight sessions.
