Sylvie Gudin Koehn

Sylvie Gudin Koehn grew up in France where she joined the Mennonite Church as a young adult because of its peace stance.
Having gone through different challenges, she experienced the need for spiritual accompaniment and was led into providing it for others. She first studied spiritual guidance in France (2003-2004) and came to Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary in 2005 to deepen and pursue her training. She received her Master of Arts in Christian Formation and has also has received training in Gestalt Pastoral Care.
Sylvie sees spiritual guidance as “peeling your inner onion," a way of exploring and discovering deeper layers of the inner life.
As an artist and spiritual guide, she developed her personal approach of Visio Divina, which combines the traditional process of Lectio Divina (meditative Bible reading) with the visual arts. Visio Divina is based on art work, either done by participants (painting, drawing, collage…) or from a picture of a painting. It offers an innovative spiritual practice for both groups and individuals. Sylvie leads workshops and retreats, especially around Visio Divina.
Sylvie is married to Brent Koehn and lives in Elkhart, IN where they attend Fellowship of Hope Mennonite Church. She enjoys painting, laughing, reading in bed, walking in the countryside, and everything involving creativity, like making up recipes, candles, etc. She can be reached by e-mail or at 574-522-2890.
