Transitions
Inner Soul Group

Meets on the third Saturday of the month, September - May
(will not meet in December)
9am-3pm
Cost: $80 per session
Facilitated by Karla Minter
Picture
Inner Soul Groups provide contemplative space to tend your own inner soul in community with others. Meeting once a month for a full day retreat, you will follow the gentle rhythm of gathering, contemplative prayer, two hours of silence and solitude, lunch and afternoon group sharing of the spiritual journey with attentiveness to God’s transforming presence.

The purpose of Inner Soul is to cultivate holy listening to God, self, others and creation, to explore the riches of contemplative life, prayer and integration and to experience being known and loved by God.
This Transitions Inner Soup Group will include input and a framework for transitions - when something has ended or is ending; the long, liminal, messy middle while the new is not yet known; and the subtle inner signals for the new beginning. We will tend these phases of transition within the rhythm of the seasons - Fall, Winter and Spring and the Christian year - ordinary time, Advent, Lent and Easter.

By the end of this series, participants can expect to:
  • Cultivate holy listening to God, self, others and creation.
  • Explore the riches of contemplative life, prayer and integration.
  • Experience being known and loved by God.
  • Identify the three essential movements of transition, common responses to these movements, self-awareness of transition experiences and spiritual practices that tend these spaces, seeking healing, integration, growth and wholeness.
"I appreciated how well Karla held the space. She allowed room for genuine interaction but kept us focused and didn’t allow the space to spiral"
~ 2024-25 Transition Inner Soul participant

Karla Minter is a spiritual director, contemplative retreat leader, biblical storyteller, pastor, and refiner. She integrates spiritual direction into leadership, discernment, pastoring as accompaniment, the contemplative way, and presence in all aspects of life.
Karla's mission is to create spaces where people can discover their true selves and thrive. Her foundation in health sciences supports this work. She graduated from Goshen College in 1985 with a degree in Foods and Nutrition and then earned a Master of Public Health degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1991, completing a clinical internship at UNC Hospitals. Karla dedicated 28 years to public health nutrition, focusing on maternal and child health and consulting for children with special healthcare needs. In 2012, she earned a seminary degree and continues to foster thriving spaces through retreats, spiritual direction, networking, and pastoring.
After attending Open Table Mennonite Fellowship since 2013, Karla accepted the call to pastor the congregation in 2022. She and her husband, Bill, live in New Paris, Indiana, and have two married children. Karla enjoys walking, biking, cross-country skiing, reading, and quilting. Her greatest joy is to sit at a table with someone and ask, "How is it going?"
