On the evening of January 29, 2024, Pathways Board of Directors and Staff gathered with about 50 long-time supporters to celebrate the launch of the public phase of The Land is Calling...Capital Campaign. Attendees enjoyed desserts and hot drinks from Bread and Chocolate and heard a presentation about the history of Pathways and the vision for the projects associated with this capital campaign.
This video was shown during Linda Lehman Thomas' presentation on the history of Pathways Retreat. Linda is one of the co-founders of Pathways and its current Director and Ministry Coordinator.
The program below from the Capital Campaign launch event. The evening was structured in the same way that Pathways Board of Directors structures board meetings, including reviewing the Mission, Vision, and Values, a short Lectio Divina with time for responses, and a "word to return to".
The Lectio reading was and excerpt from the Mary Oliver poem "Early Morning, My Birthday" The snails on the pink sleds of their bodies are moving among the morning glories. The spider is asleep among the red thumbs of the raspberries. What shall I do, what shall I do? The rain is slow The little birds are alive in it. Even the beetles. The green leaves lap it up. What shall I do, what shall I do?
The "word to return to" for the evening was The Land is Calling..., which the group returned to by saying the phrase in unison several times throughout the presentation.
