History
A small group of people began meeting in December 2003 with the vision to create a space for spiritual retreat within the Goshen, IN, city limits. An initial vision and mission statement developed from this group.
In July 2005, this group found property at 309 Hackett Road on the north side of Goshen, with 10 acres of woods and a history rich in hospitality. In the early 20th century, many guests enjoyed this property, known as The Lilacs, for its beautiful grounds, lush gardens, and abundant plum and apple orchards. The theme of hospitality continued through the 1970’s as a place for small group retreats.
This property at the north side of Goshen has always been a place of welcome for guests. With the private purchase of the property in 2006, and Pathways Retreat, Inc. leasing the land, the vision for this place continues.
Through the generous financial and volunteer support of over 200 individuals, churches and businesses, as well as support from the Community Foundation of Elkhart County, Pathways Retreat was able to complete a major expansion to the existing Retreat House as well as substantial landscaping around the property in 2016. In addition, the original 10 acres of woods available to Pathways' guests has increased to 17 acres, some of which Pathways owns.
We invite each of you to come here to find rest, reflection, and renewal with God.
